The magazine is entirely dedicated to the Great War. The title is like the first drawings, all in charge against the enemy. Nevertheless, it dealt with the life of the soldiers with humor and accuracy, brushing on the tone of the satire certain subjects, without excess. "La Baïonnette" was very little censored. Many situations related to the conflict, but also to the French society which undergoes it, are approached in the form of themes, which also makes it a great interest, so it looks : moms, blueberries, the expensive life, income tax, war machines, strategists in rooms, mercantilists, profiteers, crises, the rich, the fauna of the front, resourceful, inventors, the stuffers of skulls, war marriages, sick animals of the war, war bets, our wounded, etc. The magazine will open its pages to formidable draftsmen who were also at the front and its columns to excellent pens: Barbier, Bofa, Bracquemond, Cami, Capiello, Chas Laborde, De Valério, Domergue, Edelmann, Engel, Fabiano, Faivre, Falqué, Gottlob, Granjouan, Hellé, Hémard, Hermann-Paul, Hérouard, Huard, Ibels, Icart, Iribe, Jeanjean, Léandre, Legrain, Lepape, Mac Orlan, Métivet, Meunier, Morin, Oberlé, Poulbot, Rabier, Raemaekers, Robida, Rouveyre, Sauvage, Sem, Steinlen, Villa, Villemot, Willette, Zyg-Brunner.... for the illustrators ... accompanied by texts of : Guillaume Apollinaire, Léo Larguier, Pierre Mac Orlan, Curnonsky, Polowski, Abel Hermant, Francis Carco...
