BARTHES (Roland) (1915-1980) is a French... - Lot 152 - Les ventes Damien Voglaire SRL
BARTHES (Roland) (1915-1980) is a French philosopher, literary critic and semiologist. Director of Studies at the École pratique des Hautes Études until 1975, then at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences sociales and professor at the Collège de France. He is one of the main leaders of post-structuralism and linguistic and photographic semiology in France. Three autograph letters and one typed letter signed to Alain TRUTAT, that is: 1. Letter dated February 17, 1954, 1 page 4°, envelope kept. First letter to Trutat where Barthes has to give up a project on Michelet because he has to give his annual report to the CNRS. "Impossible to slip in the time and care to prepare something as new for me as a Michelet-TSF."- 2. Typed letter signed, dated October 14, 1954, about ten lines on one 4° page. Announcement on headed paper of L'Arche éditeur, that he is in charge of the literary part of this house.- 3. Letter dated May 26, 1962, 1 page 4°, envelope kept. "I believe indeed that there is something to do on the radio, on the best and the worst of the things, on the man in the grips with his language beyond the grammar, below the psyche, in this dramatic zone where the people manage badly to express themselves" Etc. Very beautiful letter - 4. letter dated by the postmark of June 17, 1962, 1 page and a few lines 4°. Precious letter in which Barthes explains to Trutat why he cannot participate in a project because he has just been named director of studies, a responsibility that takes up his time. "I had already spoken about this project to Michel Foucault, whom I wanted to propose to you to associate with it; I had thought of two series, one on the limits of language (aphasia, dreams, vital metaphors, madness, etc.), the other on sclerosis (writing, signals), perhaps you can ask Michel Foucault (...); perhaps he will be able to take on a series directly (I don't need to tell you what an amazing guy he is (...). Etc. Envelope preserved / Set of 4 letters.
