First edition printed at 1004 copies, numbered 1/895 vellum pur fil. Composed in 1923, "La Conscience de Zéno" is probably the first great novel inspired by psychoanalysis. With the confession of its hero - narrator who undertakes to evoke for the doctor who treats him the significant facts of his existence - it remains one of the founding books of the European literature of the 20th century.
