Piazza, 1926-1930, 12 vols. 4°, full wine-lees chagrin, spine with 5 nerves, title, tomesium, date and head gilt, filleted necks, spine flaps with triple gilt fillet, cover and spine cons. bookplate, slipcase (spines faded: from tan to brown according to the volumes; several nerves and spines rubbed, lower capping of the 8th vol. damaged, interior very fresh). Nominative copy on Japan (ex. n° IV printed for Maurice Garçon, French jurist, essayist, lyricist, novelist, polygraphist and historian, 1889-1967). In 1926, the art publisher Henri Piazza commissions the orientalist painter Léon Carré to illustrate the Nuits and Racim Mohammed to design the titles and headlines. Léon Carré produced 144 color plates out of the text, which were included in the 12 volumes of this luxury edition.
