CARRE, Léon - BARRUCAND (Victor). The earthenware wagon. Based on the Indian play attributed to King Soudraka. Illustrations by Léon Carré. P., H. Piazza, 1921, 4°, 114 p., full English green morocco basane, top board decorated with a blue chagrin elephant, spine with 5 nerves, author, title, year and publisher gilt, combed paper endpapers, slipcase, cover (binding signed LN Potin). Limited edition of 910 copies, 1/750 vellum from the manufactures Blanchet Frères and Kléber, and among these one of the few nominative copies numbered in Roman numerals (ex. n° XXVII). Edition illustrated with 20 color compositions by Léon Carré - protected by captioned serpents - and ornaments executed after decorative paintings of Buddhist art found in the temples of ancient India. Beautifully illustrated by Léon Carré, a close friend of the author in Algiers. Beautiful copy.
