[Les XX].
Catalog of the Vth exhibition of the XX with a preamble by Mr. Octave Maus. Brux, 1888, 8°, br. with red cover (spine damaged and missing at the back). First edition. When Theo Van Rysselberghe proposed to Toulouse-Lautrec to exhibit in Brussels in 1888 with the XX, Lautrec was already the painter of Parisian life and its places of pleasure, where the bourgeois was not afraid to mix with prostitutes and marlous, but he was still known only to a limited circle of amateurs. The reputation of the XX group has crossed the border. Lautrec seized the opportunity to participate in this exhibition known for its high standards. It was the first time that he signed his name. Until then, he adopted the pseudonym Treclau. He regularly participated in the exhibitions of the XX, then in those of the Libre Esthétique, always in good company since the invited artists were Gauguin, Rodin, Monet, Seurat, Cézanne, etc.
