RIBEMONT-DESSAIGNES (Georges).
L'Empereur de Chine followed by Le Serin muet. P., Au sans pareil, "Collection Dada", 1921, in-12, br. with black cover and red title (micro lack in tail of spine, upper cover slightly stained). First edition printed at 162 ex. num. 1/100 vellum Lafuma. Le Serin muet was played for the first time during the Dada evening of March 27, 1920 at the Maison de l'Oeuvre, rue de Clichy. André Breton and Tristan Tzara played the male roles. After this unique performance, which was considered the first Dada play, Ribemont-Dessaignes entrusted the manuscript to Picabia who, with Aragon and Tzara, encouraged René Hilsum to publish it with "L'Empereur de Chine".
