TARNAUD (Claude).
The Adventure of the Marie-Jeanne or the Indian Journal. With the collaboration of Gherasim Luca. Tapuscript of 79 anopistographic pages (+ 1 unpaginated sheet entitled "Suite?" and 4 pages numbered from 1 to 4, entitled "Circulaire à l'intention des Grands Informés"; this 4th and last page is dated August 14, 1960). In a black folder. Copy of Robert Benayoun (annotation on the title page). Before leaving for Mogadishu in Somalia, Claude Tarnaud (1922-1991) met the poet Ghérasim Luca in Paris. A very strong link unites them and they write to each other regularly. Both were fascinated by coincidences, inter-signs, connections and the alchemy that allows various apparently isolated events to come together. The adventure of the Marie-Jeanne is nourished by these more or less strange approaches which solicit frequent back and forth between the reality of a fact and its subjective interpretation. Tarnaud conducts his project like a diary, following the chronology of the facts. L'Aventure de la Marie-Jeanne (published by the author in 1967 and then edited by L'Ecart absolu in 2000) is a rare book, which finds its place, by its very conception, in the proximity of Breton's Nadja and Rodanski's La Victoire à l'ombre des ailes.
