FOUJITA / ENSOR - Postcard sent from Ostend... - Lot 706 - Les ventes Damien Voglaire SRL
FOUJITA / ENSOR - Postcard sent from Ostend by Youki [Lucie Badoud] to Foujita, July 21, 1931: "My little / Foufou / I am in / Ostend with / Franck. Very / happy. / Ensor says / Hello. We're having dinner tonight / together A million / kisses / Youki". Artistic figure of Montparnasse in the 1930s, Youki (1903 - 1966) owes her nickname to her husband, the French painter of Japanese origin Tsugouharu Foujita (Yuki means snow in Japanese). She then shared the life of the surrealist poet Robert Desnos from December 1931 when Foujita left Paris and entrusted her to his notorious lover. FOUJITA: see also lots 419 and 420.
