BRISSEAU de MIRBEL (C.F.). Traité d'anatomie et de physiologie végétales. Paris, F. Dupart, An X (1802), 2 vols. 8°, 578 and 531-1 bl. p., 14 plates h. t. enhanced with colors, one of which is folding, 6 folding tables, the last one unnumbered, one very large folded table (50 x 65 cm) : " Anatomie végétale ", full brown flamed calf of the time, ornate smooth spines (qq. small wear). Charles François Brisseau de Mirbel (1776-1854), first Intendant of the Gardens of Malmaison, and Professor at the Museum of Natural History and at the Faculty of Sciences of Paris, has the reputation of having been the most skilful and ingenious of the French botanists-anatomists of the beginning of the 19th c. He is considered as the founder of microscopic plant anatomy. His Traité d'anatomie et de physiologue végétale published in 1802, made him famous all over Europe.
