Internationale Situationniste.- JORN (Asger). Typed letter, signed, addressed to Gentil [Haesaert], with annotation by Haesaert. 1 f. 4° (pasted on white paper) on the letterhead of the "Laboratorio sperimentale del Movimiento internazionale per una Bauhaus Immaginista". In this letter, Asger Jorn evokes the exhibition that will take place from February 2 to 26 at the Taptoe Gallery: "Dear Gentile / We are now ready for the exhibition in Brussels. We / are counting on the opening on February 2nd. I will arrive a few days / before (...). We send the texts and the elements of illustration at the latest on Friday January 18 / We plan a conference on Monday evening February 4 at / 9 pm by the English Rumney and by me and can show a film / of 1 h.20 on Tuesday evening (...). You can see that this will be a rather extensive program. I am thinking of printing a study of structure and movement for the exhibition (...)". Attached is a handwritten letter signed by Jorn, stamped January 17, 1957, regarding the finalization of the exhibition, as well as the list and prices of Jorn's ceramics exhibited. Also enclosed is a second handwritten letter signed by Jorn authorizing Mr. Haesaert of the Taptoe Gallery to sell his production (letter dated October 21, 1956). This important exhibition at the Taptoe Gallery brings together works by Asger Jorn, Ralph Rumney, Yves Klein, psychogeographic plans by Guy Debord and photographs by Michèle Bernstein and Mohamed Dahou. First exhibition of Psychogeography, it is announced as being organized by the International Movement for an Imaginative Bauhaus and the Lettrist International. These entities would meet again on July 28, 1957 to merge and form the Situationist International, making the Taptoe Gallery exhibition the last preparatory meeting for the founding of the Situationist International / Set of 4 pieces.
