GIRON (Robert). - Lot 359
GIRON (Robert). "The Apparition" (1924). Oil on paper mounted on canvas, dated and signed on the lower left corner, mounted in a gilded molded wooden frame. Dim. frame : 74 x 58,5 cm ; subject : 65 x 50,5 cm. Robert Giron (1897-1967) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, with Magritte, Flouquet and Delvaux as fellow students. Until 1932, he painted cubist compositions, often in cafés or at the theater. At that time, he became director of the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels. He will make of this place, a place of avant-garde as well in Belgium as in the rest of Europe. His works are rare on the market.
