[HELLENS] Monday Group. Manifesto. Unedited. (Brux., Impr. V - Lot 113
[HELLENS] Monday Group. Manifesto. Unedited. (Brux., Impr. Van Doorslaer), 1937, 8° booklet, stapled (notations in pencil). First edition. Manifesto signed by Marie Gevers, Michel de Ghelderode, Franz Hellens, Georges Marlow, Charles Plisnier, Robert Poulet, Camille Poupeye, Marcel Thiry, Horace Van Offel, René Verboom, and some others. Almost ignored by the French press at the time of its publication in March 1937, this manifesto - at the initiative of Franz Hellens - remains one of the most commented texts of the history of the French-speaking literature of Belgium. It condemns the literary regionalism and, more widely, the concept of national literature. It is a question of proclaiming the definitive end of a Belgian literature of French language as an autonomous national literature to inaugurate the era of the French literature of Belgium. Rare.
