GABRIEL (Henri Brouwers, dit Henri).
"Composition" (1976). Acrylic and plexi, dated, signed on the back and mounted in a grey aluminum frame. Dim. frame : 100,5 x 78 cm ; subject : 97,5 x 75 cm. Henri Gabriel (1918-1994) born in Brussels, is a self-taught artist. He realized his first compositions of kinetic art around 1960. His works based on geometric forms, give an impression of relief thanks to the natural light. In 1965, with the artists Emiel Bergen, Gilbert Decock, Victor Noël and Marcel-Henri Verdren, he founded the group D4. In 1966, with the arrival of Jo Delahaut, the group changes its name and opts for the evocative term of Geoform, defining the chosen plastic orientation. Retrospective at the Museums of Verviers and Mons in 1995.
