Handwritten letter from Antonio Berni addressed to Louis Aragon, dated "Venice, June 22, 1962", in which the Argentine artist evokes his prize obtained at the 31st Biennale of Venice (1 f. 4°, paper defect at the upper edge). Several photos of his works exhibited at the Biennale are attached. The catalog is attached: "Berni en el tema de Juanito Laguna" (exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires in 1961) as well as the invitation card for his exhibition at the Galerie L'Oeil écoute in Lyon in 1974. Antonio Berni (Rosario, 1905 - Buenos Aires, 1981) was an Argentine painter, engraver and muralist. In 1925 he obtained a scholarship to study in Europe. After spending some time in Madrid, he moved to Paris where he was marked by the retrospective of Giorgio de Chirico and the work of Magritte, which led him to choose the path of Surrealism. He met the Surrealist Group at the Café Cyrano in Paris. He got close to the poet Aragon and the art critic and poet André Breton. In 1962, Antonio Berni received the first prize at the Venice Biennale. He is considered one of the most important Argentine artists of the 20th century / Set. 8 pieces.
