Prometheus in chains. Illustrated with thirty drawings by Pierre Bonnard. P., NRF, 1920, 4°, unpaginated, amateur binding in full green morocco, illustrated and mosaiced boards (eagle and chain on the first board, bars on the second), spine with six raised bands titled in full, gilt head, bordered spine flaps, cover and spine cons. (binding stained, spine faded). First illustrated edition, with 46 drawings by Pierre Bonnard (the title announces 30) reproduced in black, of which 14 are full page. Unique edition of 765 copies on white Lafuma-Navarre vellum. This story is a parody of the ancient legend. Prometheus is no longer chained to his rock in the Caucasus, but sitting with Damocles and Cocles in a café on the Boulevards.
