MONTALD - DE COSTER (Charles). The Legend and the heroic, joyful and glorious adventures of Ulenspiegel and Lamme Goedzak in the Land of Flanders and elsewhere. Decorated with 105 watercolors by Constant Montald reproduced with stencils. Brux, Editions du Nord, 1929-31, 2 vols. 4°, br., filled cover, in double slipcase. Limited edition of 360 copies. 1/28 Japon impérial, 2nd paper after 12 Japon blanc, containing 1 suite in black on China and 1 suite in color on Hollande. Constant Montald (1862-1944) studied at the Academy of Ghent and at the Industrial School. He then perfected his skills in Paris, with Privat Livemont, and produced several decorative and monumental works. We owe him symbolic compositions, allegorical subjects, figures, portraits and landscapes. He was a friend of Verhaeren, Doudelet and Stephan Zweig. Prix de Rome in 1886. Good copy.
