Souvenir of the Revolution. Madame Roland. Her detention in the abbey of Saint-Pélagie. 1793 told by herself in her Memoirs. Paris, Georges Hurtrel, 1886, in-12, 239 p., portrait in frontispiece (double state), numerous illustrations, full cherry morocco, boards framed with a gilt fillet, double fillet on the edges, triple fillet inside, spine with richly decorated nerves, gilt title, gilt head (front spine partly rubbed) (binding signed : " CLUB BINDERY 1898 ". Illustrations by Poirson, Jeanjean and Petit, engraved frontispiece, numerous in-text vignettes, etching plates, some in two tones. One of the 50 copies on Chine, the only large paper, numbered and signed by the publisher. The Bindery Club was founded in 1898 by Edwin Holden, and a few other wealthy members of the Grolier Club of New York, to bring the art of fine bookbinding to America and to bind their most valuable books to the most refined standards of European bindings.
