[LARUDAN, abbé]. The crushed Freemasons; continuation of the book entitled: The Order of Freemasons betrayed. Translated from Latin. At Amsterdam, 1778, in-12, frontispiece, XXIX-[1]-383-[1] p., 5 folding plates (qqs folds reinforced with adhesive paper), modern binding in chagrin, spine ribbed, gilt triangle covering the binding, the upper corner ending in the first box (binding signed Liesen). Les Francs-Maçons écrasés, attributed to Abbé Larudan, is one of the first revelations (at the time we spoke of disclosures) this book written in French is devoted to Masonic practices. Before this publication, only a few books had been published in English. The first edition of this work dates from 1747. It was long considered a sequel to the Order of Freemasons Betrayed and the Secret of the Mopses revealed attributed to the Abbé Pérau published in 1745. It is difficult to know, even today, if it is really a revelation of rituals really practiced or if the author who hides behind the pseudonym of Father Larudan has delivered a mystification that would have then influenced the Masons. Whatever the case, this work has remained famous for having served as a support for many anti-Masonic authors of the late 18th and 19th centuries. Nice copy.
