Angeline (or Angelina) Beloff (1879-1969), a Russian artist who emigrated to Paris in 1909, married Diego Rivera in 1911. The marriage lasted until Rivera's final return to Mexico in 1921. Despite a promise to send him money to reunite in Mexico, Angeline never received a single letter from him. After eleven years of hard work in Paris, she was able to raise the money to look for Diego in Mexico, who had remarried and pretended not to recognize her. Angeline Beloff stayed in Mexico and worked as an engraver and illustrator and taught engraving classes. She died at the age of 90.
