[La Main à plume] - Complete collection of 4 playing cards o - Lot 600
[La Main à plume] - Complete collection of 4 playing cards of the Quatre Vingt et Un of the group La Main à plume. P., Centres d'Action Surréaliste, 1943, size : (4 x) 10 x 13,5 cm. Includes: "If you are not a priest, a general or a beast, you will be a surrealist" (poem on verso by Noël Arnaud), "Unbutton your brain as often as your fly" (poem on verso by Boris Rybak), "Everything has been said. What We Don't Know" (back cover poem by André Stil), "If You Love Love, You'll Love Surrealism" (back cover poem by Marc Patin). "La Main à plume" (1941-1944) was a collective publication and a group that kept Surrealism active during the Occupation, in the absence of André Breton and much of the movement's lifeblood. The name is taken from Arthur Rimbaud's "Une saison en enfer": "La Main à plume vaut la main à charrue".
