ARAGON, BRETON, CHAR, ELUARD...] "First assessment of the Co - Lot 468
ARAGON, BRETON, CHAR, ELUARD...] "First assessment of the Colonial Exhibition". Unedited, July 3, 1931, 1 f. 4° printed in black on the front and back. When, on June 27, 1931, a fire ravaged the Dutch Indies pavilion, the Surrealists reacted with this second leaflet. Passionate about primitive art objects, they deplored the destruction and saw this accident as a "failed act" of capitalism. Tract co-signed by Tanguy, Sadoul, Aragon, Breton, Char, Eluard and a few others / "Don't visit the Colonial Exhibition". S.l.n.d. Paris, May 1931], 1 f. 4° printed in black on the front and back. In this 1931 leaflet we find an old enemy of the Surrealists, the prefect Chiappe, guilty of having used methods unworthy of a democracy to expel a young communist student from Indochina. This was an opportunity to denounce colonialism, whose civilising virtues were extolled at the 1931 exhibition. Tract co-signed by Breton, Eluard, Péret, Sadoul, Unik, and some others. Nice copy / Set of 2 pieces.
