BARRÈS, Maurice (1862-1923), French writer,... - Lot 86 - Les ventes Damien Voglaire SRL
BARRÈS, Maurice (1862-1923), French writer, autograph letter signed, 3 pages in-12 (traces of folding), undated [1898], without name of recipient, but addressed to Jeanne DE TALLENAY (1863-1920), Belgian writer, author of "Au sanatorium" (Bruxelles, Larcier, 1896), of which Barrès speaks at the reception of his last book, most probably, "Le Réveil de l'âme, (visions à l'Abbaye de Villers)", Paris, P. Ollendorff, 1898: "I admire the strength, the élan of the plasticity of this historical drama. It is not today, Madame [...], that I appreciate the author of "Au sanatorium", but today you give us your masterpiece. "It should be remembered that Jeanne de Tallenay had a literary salon in Brussels at the time of the renaissance of Belgian letters and kept up a correspondence with most of the writers of her time: Camille Lemonnier, Sâr Péladan, Charles Maurice, Edmond Picard. She contributed to the Jeune Belgique, Durendal and Art Moderne, and was for several years a correspondent for the Figaro.
