MAURIAC, François (1885-1970). Correspondence with Edmond LIMBOURG (1910-1992), then vice-president of the Grandes Conférences Catholiques in Brussels. 1. 17.06.1947, signed typewritten letter on the letterhead of Le Figaro, 1 page in-12. About a conference with Graham Greene. He agrees but after the creation of his new play. Envelope kept.- 2. 23.06.1949, typed letter signed on the letterhead of Le Figaro, 1 page in-12. He cannot make any commitment for a conference. He must spare his voice. Envelope kept.- 3. 24.05.1951, typed letter signed on the letterhead of Le Figaro (Editorial staff), 1 page in-4°. Does not want to commit himself so long. His son Claude was very happy with his stay in Brussels. He announces his marriage to "the grand-niece of Marcel Proust" and, he adds in his hand, "of Rostand! ». The wedding announcement of Claude Mauriac with Marie-Claude Mante with the envelope that served for the sending is enclosed. 4. 18.06.1951, autograph letter signed on the letterhead of his address, 1 page in-12. "Enclosed is the autograph that Limbourg asked for (for himself?): 14 signed autograph lines on in-4 paper headed by his address. 10. 12.03.1960, typed letter signed, 1 page in-8. Thanks the friends of the Great Catholic Conferences, but he fears what happened a few years ago (?): "I believe that I remain a sign of contradiction and that this demonstration could have great inconveniences. "11. 03.04.1961, autograph letter signed, 1 page in-12. "How interested we were in these photos! They are like a miracle and what you have captured there is beyond life. "Enclosed are 16 silver photos in original print, 13 of 8.4 cm and 3 of 8.4 x 11 cm. Portrait of Mauriac in a frame imitating a television. Mauriac obviously played the game and the result is amazing, there are mimics of Mauriac smiling where we do not recognize him. These photos seem to be unpublished. Exceptional set.- 12. 25.06.1985, typed letter signed, on the letterhead of his address, 1 page in-8. Mauriac declares that he is now an old man, that he no longer gives lectures outside France. He ends by saying that he has paid tribute to John XXIII several times. Undated, autograph letter signed, 1 page in-12. It is agreed for Nov. 13 (a debate?), "impossible for Bernanos (whose it is not enough to say that he does not like me...)". "You will thank me for pointing out to you M. Guillemin - one of the most eloquent Frenchmen of today [...]. He is a passionate Catholic and knows my work better than I do. ».- 14. Dated "Nov. 10," autograph letter signed on the letterhead of his address, 1 page in-12. "Come back from your emotion dear Sir! It is the Annals that will change their date".../ Set. 14 letters, 1 announcement, 16 photos, 1 autograph.
