PEPERSACK (Louise).
"Portrait of a woman facing the sea". Oil on canvas, signed in the upper left corner. Size of the support and subject : 73 x 60 cm. Louise Pepersack (1889-1986) attended the Brussels Academy from 1940, in the middle of the world war. Seduced by the narrative and caustic character of her art, the painter J.-J. Gailliard gave her some technical advice. A poet first and foremost, she depicts strange cities, farces not unrelated to the spirit of Ghelderode. Louise Pepersack settled in France for a while. Her subjects are resolutely applied to the canvas and present robust contours. She exhibited at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Charleroi in 1962 and at the Galerie "Le Cheval de Verre" in Brussels in 1955, 1958 and 1964. Works acquired by the State in 1964, 1966 and 1971 and at the Maison des Arts spontanés et naïfs in Brussels.
