RIBEMONT-DESSAIGNES (Georges). - Lot 886
RIBEMONT-DESSAIGNES (Georges). The Emperor of China followed by The Mute Serin. P., Au sans pareil, "Collection Dada", 1921, in-12, br., black cover with red title coin (micro missing in tail, upper cover leg. stained). Original edition printed at 162 copies, num. 1/100 Lafuma vellum. Le Serin muet was performed for the first time during the Dada evening of March 27, 1920 at the Maison de l'Oeuvre, rue de Clichy. André Breton and Tristan Tzara played the male roles. After this unique performance, which was considered to be the first Dada play, Ribemont-Dessaignes entrusted the manuscript to Picabia who, with Aragon and Tzara, encouraged René Hilsum to publish it with "L'Empereur de Chine".
