"Portrait of Maurice Brocas". Period silver print, signed in the lower right corner, mounted on wove paper. Signature ms. de Brocas under the photo. Dim. support and subject : 22,5 x 16 cm. We enclose 2 woods by Maurice Brocas, signed in pencil. Also enclosed a second photo of Alban, a portrait of Suzanne Cocq, signed by the photographer and the artist (same format). Aram Alban (1883-1961) was raised in Constantinople and Cairo. He left school to work as an assistant to a photographer in Cairo. After this apprenticeship, he went to Milan, then to Brussels before settling in Paris around 1925. His work focused on fashion, portraits and advertising, but also on modernist nudes. He exhibited at the Salon International d'Art Photographique in Paris in 1930. Works notably in the collections of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Canada / Set of 4 pieces.
