TRENET, Charles (1913-2001), singer, composer, French performer. Autograph letter signed on two pages 8°, letterhead of the Hôtel de Bordeaux, dated Feb. 2, 1939, addressed to Jean-Bernard Passerieu, known as JEAN-BERNARD, lawyer and publicist (1858-1936). Founded the magazine L'Union littéraire at the age of eighteen; literary critic at L'Événement under the pseudonym of "Bourgeois de Paris"; president of the Syndicat des Journaux de Langue française published abroad, director of the SACEM, etc. Amusing letter of complaint. He asked the SACEM if his author's account was free of any opposition. "On 5 January last, I had 27,000 F and some to collect. But two oppositions from the exquisite Salabert [you mean the publishing house] and from my less exquisite name as tax collector amounted to about 7,000 francs. "Assuming that the SACEM has settled the creditors, he waits, "but ... bernique! I am still waiting ...".
