Annales de pomologie belge et étrangère, published by the Royal Commission of Pomology instituted by H.M. the King of the Belgians. First year (1853). Second year (1854). Third year (1855). Brux, F. Parent, 1853-1855, 3 vol. in-folio, brown half-brown grief, spine with false nerves, gilt author and title, ex-libris on the back cover (spines passed and rubbed, capes leg. epidermis).
Famous Belgian magazine whose first 3 volumes contain 144 fruit lithographs, all enhanced with watercolour. They are mainly apples and pears, but also peaches, plums, cherries, strawberries, redcurrants, etc.. Alexandre Bivort, the director of publication of these annals, is mainly responsible for writing the MSDSs. In the 19th century, Belgium occupied a privileged place in pomology with the creation of hundreds of new varieties of pears created by amateurs or real scientists such as Father Hardenpont or the chemist Van Mons. A very fresh example.
