[QUINAULT (Philippe)]. Agrippa, king of Alba, or the false Tiberinus, tragedy. Without name of edict, place or date, in-12, 79 (including f. of title)-1 bl., full vellum of the time. Curious edition of this famous play by Philippe Quinault (1635-1688), a playwright and libertarian, who established his reputation. The king gave him a pension of two thousand pounds. He was admitted to the Académie française in 1670 and became a member of the Académie des inscriptions in 1674. Nothing seems to be missing, pagination and discrimination of the notebooks are correct. Handwritten mention in the title of Ferdinand von Plettenberg (1690-1737) who became in 1723 the prime minister of Clément-Auguste of Bavaria. He worked to have the Pragmatic Sanction promulgated in 1713 by Charles VI of Habsburg accepted so that Maria Theresa of Austria could succeed him. He inherits the castle of Nordkirchen (including ex-libris).
