Printed in Rouen for Antoine de Sommaville Marchand Libraire [...] in Paris, 1657, petit in-12, [22, including Chauveau's fronstispice]-391-1 white p., 10 figures a.s., full contemporary vellum with small flaps. From the Nordkirschen library (ex-libris). Lucain (39-65) is a Latin poet of whom this work is the only one preserved. It is an epic about the civil war between Julius Caesar and Pompey between 49 and 48 BC. Lucain committed suicide at the age of 25, on the orders of Nero.
