[ Groans ] [ Hugo ] Commentatio ad locam quaedam N. Testamenti quae de Antichristo agunt aut agere putantur, expendenda eruditie. Amsterdam, Apud Ioh. Et Cornelium Blaeu, 1640, petit in-12, 55-1 white. Related with: [IDEM]. Explicatio trium utilissimorum locorum N. Testamenti [...]. Same place, same editors, same year, f. of title, 86 p., bound with : [IDEM]. Explanation Decalogi [...]. Same place, same edition, same date, petit in-12, 92 p. The three opuscules formerly bound together in full vellum. From the Nordkirschen library (ex-libris). Hugo Grotius (1583-1645) is a humanist, diplomat, lawyer, theologian and jurist. A young prodigy, he studied at the University of Leiden and was imprisoned for his involvement in intra-calvinist conflicts but escaped hidden in a book chest (we are talking about Grotius and not Ghosn). He wrote most of his works in France. Very rare.
