WEIL (Simone). Pre-Christian Intuitions.... - Lot 336 - Les ventes Damien Voglaire SRL
WEIL (Simone). Pre-Christian Intuitions. P., La Colombe, (1951), 8°, 182 p., uncut. First edition. 1/100 copies. Num. on rag Johannot d'Annonay, only large paper. The texts that make up this collection were written by Simone Weil in Marseille, then in Casablanca, from November 1941 to May 26, 1942. Simone Weil (1909-1943), who was then studying Greek philosophy in view of a great work she wanted to undertake with R.-P. Perrin, had formed the plan to bring together the most beautiful non-Christian writings on the love of God. Before leaving for America, she bequeathed her texts to R.-P. Perrin, who published them in 1951 under the title "Pre-Christian Intuitions", a title which is not by Simone Weil, but was chosen because it best expresses the central idea of the book. Nice copy./ IDEM. The Working Condition. P., Gallimard, "Espoir", (1951), 8°, 273 p., br., partially uncut. First edition. 1/178 ex. num. on pure wove vellum, only large paper. In December 1934, Simone Weil enters a factory as a "machine operator". Associate professor, she intends to live the vocation she feels is hers: to expose herself to discover the truth... Good copy./ Set 2 vol.
