PÉLADAN, Joseph, known as Sâr Joséphin PÉLADAN (1858-1918), - Lot 134
PÉLADAN, Joseph, known as Sâr Joséphin PÉLADAN (1858-1918), French writer, art critic and occultist. Set of 43 letters (34 letters 4°, several with the Péladan coat of arms, 4 letters 8°, 1 letter in-12, 2 letter cards and two cards with the Rose Croix letterhead) addressed to Jeanne de TALLENAY, i.e. 5 pages in-12, 5 pages 8° and 44 pages 4° of text. Two envelopes with Rose Croix letterhead are enclosed (small lacks, fringed letters, folds). The letters are not dated. Some dates have been added. An in-depth examination of the whole should allow a chronological classification, as it often refers to travels, exhibitions, publications, meetings. He wrote a preface for one of Jeanne de Tallenay's books, "Treize couleurs" (1895). The first impression we have in handling this correspondence is that Jeanne de Tallenay is attracted to Péladan, whereas Péladan who calls her Béatrice likes to meet her but usually sees her only a few hours between all her activities and uses her connections a little. However, he ends a letter from Athens with these words: "That is why, in this hour, more than in any other, making it solemn, because I am moved, I tell you Beatrice, that I love you. "The multitude of small pieces of information should make it possible to paint a new picture of Péladan and Belgium. Exceptional./ Set of 45 pieces.
