                        THOÜIN (André). Courses of cultivation and naturalization of plants. Atlas. Paris, Huzard, 1827, 8° oblong, 65 plates, cart. paper of the time (missing on the back, pl. 52 detached). Fresh inside. André Thoüin (Paris, 1747-1824) is a French botanist and agronomist. He contributed to the agricultural volumes of "L'Encyclopédie méthodique". Grand master of the Museum's collections, botanist, specialist in grafting and the cultivation of exotic plants, he became a member of the Agricultural Society in 1784, a member of the Academy of Sciences in 1786, in all 72 academies or learned societies. With René Desfontaines (1750-1831), he made an inventory of the botanical gardens around Paris owned by nobles and other fallen dignitaries.
