FEYDEAU (Ernest). Memoirs of a young lady from a good family - Lot 94
FEYDEAU (Ernest). Memoirs of a young lady from a good family written by herself. Revised, corrected, pruned, softened and put into good French. London, A.R. Williams, 1877, in-12, 143 p., frontispiece engraved in etching by Hanriot, modern red half-chagrin binding with corners, spine with 5 nerves, gilt author and title, cover (faded) cons. and, at the head, the false title and 2 title pages, the first undated in the name of the Société des Bibliophiles and the second dated in the name of A.R. Williams éditeur. Extremely rare copy on large Dutch yardage which contains the anomaly of having 2 different title pages and 2 different publishers. The two editions "Société des Bibliophiles" and "Williams" seem to have been simultaneous, which does not appear in any commentary. This libertine novel, which caused a scandal, was then published in Brussels in 1878, under the new title of "Souvenirs d'une cocodette" (Dutel, A-696).
