WARHOL (Andy). - Lot 434
WARHOL (Andy). "Steve Katz" (1973). Polaroid, monogrammed in the lower right corner. Size of support and subject: 10.7 x 8.6 cm (fine marginal folds). Steve Katz (° 1945) is a guitarist, founder and member of the band "Blood, Sweat and Tears". In 1972, he became the producer of Lou Reed (for 2 albums) and frequented Andy Warhol and the whole Velvet Underground band. We enclose a letter from Steve Katz who recounts these moments with a few anecdotes, including one about his "cocky attitude" for this polaroid, as it was one of the rare times he wore a suit. Also attached is a letter from Sotheby's in New York, to whom Steve Katz had asked to estimate this photo.
