DELARUE-MARDRUS (Lucie), postcard signed and dated with a fe - Lot 235
DELARUE-MARDRUS (Lucie), postcard signed and dated with a few lines addressed to Jeanne de TALLENAY. Lucie Delarue-Mardrus (1874-1945) is a French poet, novelist, journalist, historian, sculptor and draftswoman. Her father having refused to Philippe Pétain, the hand of the one nicknamed "Princess Amande", she married in 1900 the orientalist Joseph-Charles Mardrus (this union will be dissolved on June 19, 1923). She travelled with him to North Africa, Egypt, Syria, Turkey and Italy, where she produced photographic reports and stories. As she was the lover of Natalie Barney and others, her husband, who wanted to keep his wife's beauty intact, proposed to Natalie Barney to have a child in her place.
