BROODTHAERS (Marcel).
Twenty years later. Volume 1 [Brussels], R. Lucas éditeur, [1969], 1 vol. in-12, 442 p., br. with trailer (micro tear on the trailer). This work by Broodthaers is in fact the "détournement" of Alexandre Dumas' book, "Vingt ans après" published in 1968 in the collection "Le Livre de Poche". To the normal print run of this book, Broodthaers added a red banner bearing his name and that of the gallery owner R. Lucas, which obscures the name of Alexandre Dumas; on the front of the first blank page, there is a white label stuck on with the printed justification of the print run: "This work was printed in 75 copies numbered from 1 to 75, all of which were signed by the author and the publisher. Each copy would have been dedicated to different people. So there would not be copies of volumes 1 and 2 with the same number and dedicated to the same person. Ex. n° 18 (in black marker); on the title page is pasted a sheet printed on white paper containing a dialogue between Marcel Broodthaers and Richard Lucas. The copy is dedicated by Marcel Broodthaers and Richard Lucas: "To Mr. and Mrs. / Hallemans / in all justice / cordial / M.B. / R. Lucas / 13.10.69". Very rare (Ceuleers and Van de Velde, 32).
