Paris, Cellot et Jombert, 1776, 8°, [2]-XXIV-607-[5] p., vignette at the head, 30 folding plates (plates 6 and 7 are placed after p. 258), early 19th c. binding in half calf with cherry glaze and corners, spine with richly decorated nerves, gilt head (some rubbing). A good copy. Ex-libris of the United Service. The best edition of this classic announced as the first volume of "Élémens de la guerre des sièges" but which is still found separately. Guillaume Le Blond, born in Paris in 1704 and died in 1781, was a French mathematician. Professor of mathematics to the pages of the king's great stable (1736), then to the Children of France (1751), Leblond retained this employment until 1778, when he became secretary to Madame Victoire's cabinet.
