BÉJART - KAYAERT (Robert). Superb set of more than 200 black and white silver prints (ca 1966) on baryta paper. Size : +/- 26 x 20 cm. Stamp on the back of the prints. Photographs of the dancers, in rehearsal and on stage, for the ballet "Romeo and Juliet" by Maurice Béjart. Some pictures show the meeting between the troupe, King Baudoin and Queen Fabiola after the performance. Some contact sheets of the same series are attached. Robert Kayaert (1920-2007) became famous as a sports photographer, official photographer of Expo 58, the Queen Elisabeth Competition and the Béjart ballets. The artistic encounter between the choreographer and the photographer was a fusion. For twenty years, Robert Kayaert would weave the visual memory of 20th century ballets.
