"Knoll", an American office furniture and equipment company founded in 1938, developed the "Planning Unit" after the war: the first office design agency, this innovative service encompassed all sections of design (furniture, textiles, graphics, etc.) and offered large companies customised advice and the development of a personalised visual identity. This was a real blossoming of the concept of interior design, which Knoll and its branches extended to private individuals.
