Banned, it was reproached for having continued to publish during the Occupation, and for having been directed by Drieu La Rochelle from 1941 to 1943. Those nostalgic for the NRF of the interwar period often came to beg Jean Paulhan to try to revive it. He would reply, with the humour that was well known to him, that he was particularly responsible for ensuring that it would not be revived. And in his new office at the Éditions Gallimard, he composed with delight a sort of more luxurious and rare NRF, which appeared three or four times, or twice, or once a year, and was called Les Cahiers de la Pléiade. There are thirteen of them" (Dominique Aury, Le Monde, September 2, 1977). Texts by : Adamov, Apollinaire, Artaud, Audiberti, Bataille, Blanchot, Borges, Breton, Caillois, Camus, Céline, Char, Chardonne, Malcolm de Chazal, Cingria, Daumal, Noël Devaulx, Dubuffet, Gide, Giono, etc.
