POUPPEVILLE (Denis).
"Frédéric le farceur" (1985). India ink, watercolor and grease pencil on paper, dated, signed on the lower edge and mounted under a white mat and natural wood frame. Size of the frame : 46 x 56 cm ; subject (in medallion) : 31 x 43 cm. Denis Pouppeville (Le Havre, France, °1947) is a painter, draughtsman and engraver. He takes a sarcastic and amused look at the theatre of life. Derision and tenderness reign in an unusual universe crossed by twilight lights where enigmatic masked characters prowl, halfway between man and beast. He has illustrated famous authors such as Louis Calaferte and Michel de Ghelderode.
