Abolitionism - EASTMAN (Zebina). Historical... - Lot 71 - Les ventes Damien Voglaire SRL
Abolitionism - EASTMAN (Zebina). Historical Sketches of the Anti-Slavery Movement of the United States. Chicago, Keen, Cooke and Company, 1874, plaquette 8°, 16 p., br. (central fold). Ed. orig. Taken separately from a book that has never been edited. Zebina Eastman (1815-1883), editor-in-chief of an abolitionist newspaper in Illinois, collected the memories of anti-slavery activists following a meeting lasting several days in June 1874. He tried to publish them but could not find a publisher or enough customers to cover the costs. Only one copy was located in the Chicago History Museum.
