Paris, Hôtel de Thou, 1785, 4 vols. 4°, spine bound in brown guilloche half calf with small corners, smooth spines decorated with a large romantic design with the gilt title at the top and the tomaison (stamps at the titles) at the back. Vol. 1 : frontispiece (folding plate : death of Cook), false title, title, [4 p. : List of maps and plates], [2 p. : Essential mistakes to correct], CXXXII-437-[3] p., 22 plates numbered 1 to 4, 82, 5-21 as indicated in the list of maps and plates (note the 1st plate : large folded map). Small reinforcement at the white margin of pl. 21. Vol. 2: false title, title, 422 p., 14 plates (22-25, 27, 26, 28-35). Vol. 3: false title, title, 488 p., 32 plates (86, 36, 37, 43, 38-42, 44-47, 87, 48-50, 56, 52, 53, 84, 54-58, 83, 59-62, 68). Vol. 4: false title, title, 552 p., folding table p. 520bis, 19 plates (63-67, 69-74, 85, 75-81). That is 88 plates, including the frontispiece. Very nice copy, very fresh, in perfect condition. Very nice copy despite some light marginal wetting and some pitting.
