MINNE (George).
Set of 2 handwritten letters addressed to Mr [Georges] Giroux about a hypothetical exhibition. The first is dated "Ghent, 21 December 1920" and the second "Ghent, 16 January 1921". Letters individually mounted under mat and wooden frame. Dim. frame : (2 x) 33 x 43 cm; letters: 25 x 20 cm and 22 x 13 cm (1st letter burnished). In this first letter, George Minne asks the gallery owner to be able to exhibit at his place: "Would you be willing to make another exhibition of works of drawing by me, new drawings of rather small dimensions (...). I can say that my drawings have gained in intensity (...)". In the second letter, he shows his annoyance: "I am quite surprised that on various / occasions you express to third parties the opinion / that I'd better wait two, even three years before exhibiting again / while you send me the plans of / your rooms and talk to me about exhibiting / at the end of this year. Please note that I am not begging to exhibit, on several occasions I have been offered other rooms in Brussels (...)". The Galerie Giroux in Brussels is one of the most important art galleries in Belgium in the first half of the 20th century. George Minne exhibited there in January 1920.
