Paris, Le Livre et l’Estampe, (1902), 8°, 106 pp., full raspberry-colored morocco-bound sheepskin, upper cover titled and illustrated in incised leather, spine with 3 raised bands, author’s name and title gilded, gilded head on endpapers, gold-filleted edges, inner covers edged and filleted, brown silk endpapers (endpapers damaged), double hand-painted paper endpapers, cover and spine in good condition, slipcase. Modern bookplate. Deluxe edition illustrated with a title vignette, a headband, and 7 inset illustrations. Limited edition of 350 copies. No. 1/10 of the numbered head edition on Imperial Japan paper, including an original drawing by Constantin Meunier, a sequence of the title vignette, and the banner at the beginning of the first chapter. This copy is enhanced at the end of the volume with an engraving by Émile Thysebaert, signed in pencil. Included is the booklet “Le Mort,” a mimodrama by Camille Lemonnier and Paul Martinetti, first performed in Brussels on the stage of the Alcazar on April 20, 1894, directed by Luc Malpertuis (Talvart and Place XII, p. 169).
