Serge de Diaghilew Theatre. Les Biches. Marie Laurencin, Jean Cocteau, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc. Paris, Éditions des Quatre Chemins, 1924, 2 vols. 4°, glossy, illustrated covers, common slipcase (brownish discharge on covers). First edition printed at 335 copies num. 1/60 copies num. sur Hollande van Gelder (ex. n° 10). The first volume contains a portrait of Nijinska by Jean Cocteau, a text on Les Biches by Jean Cocteau, a text on Poulenc by Darius Milhaud, and color reproductions of 14 drawings and paintings by Marie Laurencin. The second volume, devoted to the stage production, is illustrated with a portrait of Marie Laurencin by Man Ray, and 23 photographic plates of the troupe's dancers by Georges Detaille. The ballet "Les Biches", to music by Francis Poulenc, choreographed by Bronislava Nijinska, with curtain, set and costumes by Marie Laurencin, was first performed by the Ballets Russes troupe at the Théâtre de Monte-Carlo on January 6, 1924.
