FAUCON (Bernard). Untitled [Les Grandes Vacances]. S.l., L'A - Lot 495
FAUCON (Bernard). Untitled [Les Grandes Vacances]. S.l., L'Auteur, 1977, 8° square, leaves, blue cardboard slipcase (cardboard slightly stained, crease on 1st leaf, 2 small russ. marg.). Preface by Jean Attali. First edition limited to 120 copies (ex. no. 10), including 12 color reproductions on glossy paper and an original signed print mounted on glossy paper. After studying philosophy and theology, Bernard Faucon (°1950) became one of the first artists to explore the world of photographic staging. His work, begun in 1976 and voluntarily interrupted in 1995, is divided into 8 major series of "true fictions". The first series, "Les Grandes Vacances", is certainly Bernard Faucon's best-known. It shows groups of dressed-up children's mannequins, sometimes accompanied by real children. Exhibitions at Léo Castelli in New York, Yvon Lambert and Galerie VU in Paris. Retrospective at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in 2007. Extremely rare.
